Animals 2018 Remix - The iconic 1977 Pink Floyd album has been remixed for the first time by James Guthrie. Animals is a concept album, focusing on the social-political conditions of mid-1970s Britain, and was a change from the style of the band’s earlier work. The album was developed from a collection of unrelated songs into a concept which describes the apparent social and moral decay of society, likening the human condition to that of animals. Taking inspiration from George Orwell’s Animal Farm, the album depicts the different classes of people as animals with pigs being at the top of the social chain, dropping down to the sheep as the mindless herd following what they are told, with dogs as the business bosses getting fat on the money and power they hold over the other. Although it’s been a long time since 1977, the narrative of the album still resonates today as our social and economic situation mirrors that of the time.

It's sounds quite good, better than the original album release. I was never a big fan of this album. The real only reason I bought it was to add to my collection of Pink Floyd albums. There is minimal to non existent pops and clicks during playback. Channel separation is quite good. I could hear a bit of sibilance on some the tracks but that could be my cartridge. Overall, Animals remix is a great sounding recording.

Clear, defining, and sharp sound. Is it better than the warmer sound of the original? Who knows? It’s really a preference. This is a very good album (vinyl) and would be the one I would cue up right now.
A top notch remix!

This is easily one of the finest remixes that has been made in the past several years. The effect on the Pigs On The Wing guitar is incredible and the overall sound of the drums is wonderful.

I have heard the negative feedback & read about the shortcomings of the 3.1 DVD audio release of the Animals 2018 remix, however, as for my 180 Gm. vinyl release of this remix, I couldn't be happier... The angst between Rick and Roger's deteriorating relationship at the time, the prequel to Ricks Absence from "The Final Cut" album, has been righted here, Rick's outstanding contributions to this are apparent even without an audiophiles ear. Honorable mention to the animal sounds throughout, and echo & delay effects on vocal parts. The heavy gauge gatefold cover, and extensive book containing rare photograph's and factoids as well as lyrics and oddities, is a real treat taking the listening experience to a higher level. Excellent quality control all around on this product. A must have for the Floyd aficionado, being the first actual "Remix" in the bands extensive discography.

This vinyl has a very crisp clear sound and sounds good but to me personally l think it has lost some of its original warmth sound that the original recording had. But im an old man that believes more in the quality of the past. This lp is still worth owning if nothing else to compare with the original but l would not replace this new version with the original unless you were never happy with the original quality sound…
